The much awaited
grand Mumbai Pooram 2012, the world’s biggest Kerala festival held outside the
state is scheduled to be held at Dombivli from 9th to 11th
November 2012.
Kaikottikkali is one of the major items in the various mega programmes.
Kaikottikkali in Mumbai Pooram 2011 entered in the Limca Books of World Records
for maximum number of participants. Mumbai Pooram 2012 intends to bring
Kaikottikkali, with 3000 participants, into the Guinness Book of World Records
for highest number of participants.
The Vanithas of Borivli Malayali Samajam have come forward with much
enthusiasm and vigour to make the Kaikottikkali of this year’s Pooram a grand
success. The daily practice at the Samjam’s school premises bears testimony to
the dedication of the participants.
The curtain raiser held at the Poisar Gymkhana on 28th
October 2012 saw the Borivli participants mingling with effortless ease with
the rest of the teams from the Western Suburbs. It was indeed heartening to
witness the excellent performance of our team, to the praise of the organizers
present.
In the capacity of Secretary of Vanitha Vedi of the Borivli Malayali
Samajam, I take this opportunity to express my gratitude to all the participants
for their active interest. I also thank Smt. Radha Bhaskaran who worked
extremely hard to organise and train the participants. My thanks are also due
to Smt. Rakhee Sunil for coordinating the event for all participants from the
Western Suburbs. The Managing Committee of Borivli malayali Samajam also deserve
our praise for their abiding support on this occasion.
Let us maintain the tempo and ensure that the mega kaikottikkali exceeds
all expectations and that the participants get the rare chance of winning the Guinness
Book of Records award.
