Malayalam Classes ... Now in Borivali

Kerala Govt.  has initiated ‘Malayalam Mission’ through which teachers are being trained to teach the language and more to Malayalees living  in Borivli…
It’s an offering from God’s own country that Keralites in the city will find hard to resist. Malayalees, especially the second and third generation, can now be rest assured that they are not bereft of the language or the culture of their homeland.

Through ‘Malayalam Mission’, the Kerala government is training teachers who will in turn educate the young Malayalees in the city about their native state.
The teaching module includes four textbooks that have been scientifically prepared. These include ‘Kannikona’, ‘Suryagandhi’, ‘Ambal’ and ‘Neelkurani’, all of which are named after flowers. “The earlier two are certificate courses, each of two years while the latter two are diploma courses of three years. These ten years of courses are equivalent to class 10 of Kerala board,”

Spread across these four books is not only reading and writing the Malayalam script but beyond, “We are witnessing a huge gap in the second generation Keralites who do not know how to read the language. Now, with this, we are sure that the participant families will get a chance to bring back what is lost. Anybody who wishes to learn can join. It can be a six-year-old or an 80-year-old.”

Classes will be held every Sunday morning for two hours.  The teachers will be trained by the mission and  they  teach the students joining for  learning  Malayalam Class.
